M1 Visas
Non-Academic Student Visas to the United States
The M visa is for students wishing to pursue non-academic or vocational studies. Typically, these programs are of short duration and do not lead to the award of a degree, but result in some form of professional or vocational certification. Applicants for this visa must have received a Form I-20 from the host institution to apply for an M-1 visa.
Applicants may also wish to bring the following:
- Academic or vocational credentials that may be relevant to the program
- Admission letter from the program
- Proof of work experience if relevant to the course of study
