The U.S. Consulate General, Chennai is holding a blogging competition on the “US-India Partnership: It Matters.” The winners will receive: 1st Prize: a laptop computer; 2nd Prize: a desktop computer; 3rd Prize: an iPod. Participants must develop their own blogs on U.S.-India relations, tracking recent developments, must be 18 years or older, be Indian citizens and residents of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka and Kerala. Entries are due on April 09, 2010.

U.S. Human Rights Report Has Far-Reaching Impact
“Today it is the single most comprehensive look at human rights around the world done by anyone,” Posner, assistant secretary for the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, told America.gov in a recent interview. The report is “a baseline of information about what’s going on in human rights every year.”
Science, Climate and Health – Ambassador’s Focus in Bangalore
Ambassador Timothy Roemer is in Bangalore to meet with various key people working in the fields of science and technology, space exploration, defense, energy and climate change. Last year, India and the U.S. jointly identified five pillars for collaboration. Ambassador Roemer has selected two of these pillars to focus on in Bangalore – Science, Technology, Health and Innovation, and Energy and Climate Change. Ambassador Roemer met on February 17 with Chairman Dr. K Radhakrishnan from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), learned about IBM India’s “Green IT” philosophy, and highlighted the Solar II Trade Mission with a press conference.
